Halie Foell Stout

After graduating with my MA in Mass Communications in 2011, we moved to (and currently live in) Houston, TX while my husband Kendall is finishing up Optometry school. We've been married for five years and recently had our first baby. Nora Jean Stout was born on June 14, 2013. I was working as a Graduate Program Coordinator for the University of Houston's Hilton College Graduate Program until Nora was born. Now I stay at home with her and try to keep up with things. Here are two pictures because I like to show off my little firecracker. I have two brother's on missions right now. One finishing in Baltimore, MD and the other is serving in Boston, MA while he is waiting for his VISA to Brazil. We have truly felt the blessings of missionary work and are striving to invite people to church and to meet with the missionaries. Missionary work has become a huge part of our lives and I am so grateful for my Nauvoo experience while I am learning more about the gospel and sharing my testimony about Joseph Smith and the Book of Mormon. Kendall serves as the assistant ward mission leader and I am currently serving with the YW in our ward. It is proving to be harder than any calling I've had before. In Fall 2014 we will be living in Fort Worth, TX and Spring 2015 in Wichita Falls, TX for our optometry externships. After that, who knows where life will take us? I miss Nauvoo so much and we are planning to go back as a family. I can't wait to revisit those days. Wish I could see all of you again soon. I ditto Sadie and Rebecca in saying that if you are ever in the Houston area, please feel free to let me know. (If you go on a cruise and you need a ride from the airport or whatever it might be.) It is always great seeing Nauvoo faces. I saw Rachel Briggs at a Stake RS Meeting and it was nice to see a familiar face. It is so great to hear updates from everyone. I love hearing all the success each of you are having in education, marriage and family life, and everything else. I hope to hear from more of you soon.
 With Love, Halie

Kayli Decker Nagel

We are currently stationed in rainy Ft. Lewis, Washington. We have loved that we are still in the Pacific Northwest which is still my favorite place in the whole world. Army life has been an adventure. My husband got accepted in the Army Flight School!! We can't even believe this is happening! We will be moving to Enterprise, AL in January and we will be there for two years! I have already figured out it is 12 hours from Nauvoo so if there is going to be a 10 year reunion I will be there! We have two boys, Will just turned 5 and Caden who will be 3 next year. They are the sweetest kids I know. William will start kindergarten next year! I can't believe it! Right now I am looking into going back to school to finish my degree but kind of stuck as to what I want to do. Really looking into getting a degree in child development, since it's what I love!

Sadie Lee Hopkins

Hey "family", After graduating with a BA in Anthropology from BYU in 2010 I moved to Denver, CO, for a job. My husband Reece and I met here and we married in August 2012. Yes, my name is really Sadie Hopkins now (not as bad as it could be, but close enough to not avoid the bad jokes and inane "did you realize?" comments). Reece is an industrial design student at a local university and works nights and weekends cleaning carpet, I work days as an office manager, and we both enjoy what time we get to see each other in between. We have a tiny ward so I have two callings: ward music director and a Relief Society teacher. Our most engrossing update is we're expecting our first baby next year! I'm due March 8 and we will not find out if a boy/girl till delivery. Hats off to all y'all with a whole herd already. Baby-growing is hard business. We'll stay in Denver at least through December 2014 when Reece should graduate and then we'll go whenever and wherever he can get a good job. Life is good for us. If you ever come through the area please feel free to look us up! Emily Z. stopped by one time. We made pie and it was magical. If you want to stalk.. err I mean follow up with me more often, I blog at sadiesstory.blogspot.com. I occasionally get inquiries from Nauvoo friends about my brother who was diagnosed with leukemia the year after Nauvoo so here's his update for those interested. After Scott's initial 3.5 years of treatment he was clean and healthy for about 2.5 years. Three months into his mission to New England cancer came back and he returned home immediately to resume treatment and had a bone marrow transplant a month after my wedding. Since the only sibling who was a perfect marrow match was the brother with total kidney failure who needs his own transplant, they found a perfect match in a European donor. Scott is doing well and all cancer seems to be gone for good and he's planning on attending BYU-I next spring. (Josh still needs a kidney. Let me know if you're interested in helping fix that!) Thanks for all your well wishes an prayers over the years for my family. Whenever I met Nauvoo friends on campus they always remembered to ask about him and it meant a lot to me to have such caring friends. I hope your families are all well and sound. I wish I could be there for the upcoming reunion in Utah. Don't be strangers. -- Sadie Hopkins

Hey, everybody! I'm doing really well. My husband and I just moved to Logan, Utah, so if you're in the neighborhood, please stop by to say hi! We have a nine-month-old baby named Adam and my husband Jacob is currently working as a Fitter. We have a youtube channel and a blog page. Josh Wittwer

Hi everyone! After returning from my mission in England I attended SUU. A few months after graduation I was able to land a job with Marriott International in Salt Lake. Recently, I transferred to Baton Rouge. I never thought I'd live in the South but so far I enjoy it. I want my next move to be closer to home and I'll be eligible for that in about a year. Then I'll be able to settle down a bit and stay in the same location. I think I'm one of the few who isn't married. It's still in my plans for when I meet someone who is right for me. Life is really good and definitely an adventure.

Trina Topham Hawkins

My husband Tyler and I live in Southeastern Washington. We're fruit farmers and we love it! We have a 1 yr old boy named Traeger and another boy that will be here in December! We got to go to Nauvoo a year ago- what a wonderful place that is!!

Krisitin Jensen Manwill

I served in the best mission in the whole world (Washington Tacoma) under the best mission president ever (Elder Kevin W. Pearson). Then back to BYU to finish my degree in Family History, with minors in Music and Family Life. I got to do an internship at an archive in England, and while I was there I got to tour church history sites. It totally reminded me of our church history tours. After graduating, I married Michael Manwill, who is majoring in Music Education at BYU and wanted to be a high school choir director, but is now working full-time as a software engineer. We have two kiddos: Jonathan (age 2) and Rebecca (age 5 months). We’re living in Taylorsville, UT. I am blessed to be able to stay at home with my kids, and I’m also doing some professional family history research on the side. (Of course, my mother-in-law is currently my only client. Basically, it serves as an excuse for her to give us money. But at least I’m keeping my research skills in use.) Someday, I may take on some more clients, but for now, I’m plenty busy taking care of my little family.

Meagan Knudson Aldridge

My husband Stephen and I have been married almost 4 years now! We have two beautiful daughters, Hannah (almost 17 months) and Audrey (8 weeks). Yes, they are really really close together. Stephen and I are currently living in Provo. He was just accepted into the advertising program at BYU, so we'll be here another 2 years. I am lucky enough to get to stay home with Hannah and Audrey. I am teaching in Relief Society in my ward, which surprisingly I love. Also, just unwrapped an entire bag of rolos so that I can bake rolo cookies to share at the relief society activity tonight. So I'll be thinking of my Nauvoo friends today while I bake!

Rachel Briggs Evans

I am now Rachel Evans. I married Jake Evans just over 1 year ago. We are expectinng our first at the beginning of February. we just moved to Iowa City where my husband is starting medical school at the University of Iowa. We lived in Houston for the past year where I work for national Oilwell Varco doing human resources. We spent 3 months of that year living in Norway for my work. I am excited for the new phase of life of being a mom.

Emily Zimmerman

Hello friends!! We're almost to our 10 year reunion! What!?
My life has been crazy lately. (What's new?) So here's the run down:
I'm currently living in Portales, New Mexico. Where is that you say? Well... drive from Albuquerque, going east, for about 4 hours, and when you're about 20 miles from the Texas boarder, you've made it! It's 2 hours to a decent airport (Lubbock, TX) and 4 from a 'real' one! I'm also 90 minutes from a Target, but my town does have a WalMart.
Why did I move to the armpit of the united states? Graduate School. I'm in my second (and last) year of Grad School for Communicative Disorders- I graduate next May and after a year of Clinical Fellowship I will have 8 (eight) letters after my name! M.S. CCC-SLP. Sweet, huh? I'll save all the babies! (Or their speech, at least). Hopefully (barring a shiny- third finger left hand reason to stay) as soon as I'm done with school in May, I'll be heading back to Seattle to be closer to most of my family!
Other points of interest--
  • My car, Betsy, has 342,000+ miles on it (a 1985 Volvo 740 GLE). She is a rock star and I'll be sad to get rid of her, but I will be SO happy to have a car with AC (which, let me tell you, is a killer here in New Mexico!)
  • I've been dating a boy for 6 months... Justin, and we'll see where it goes. At this point, I like him a whole lot. One of the perks is that his parents just went to be the mission president/wife in Ecuador! So as soon as I'm done with school I'm planning on a week or two down there with a place to stay and everything! (Wahoo!)
  • I bake cupcakes, on a regular basis. Filled, frosted, butter rich cupcakes. Mmmmm. My professors love me. I need a bigger kitchen!
  • I have 2 nieces and 2 nephews who I adore! (And I'm sorry, but they are cuter than your nieces/nephews/children... ;) )
  • I'm in the YW presidency in my ward here. It's super fun- it also means I have an entire pin board devoted to YW stuff (next to the cupcake one!)

So there you go; My life in a nutshell!  Love to you all,
Emily Zimmerman

Celeste Owens Burres

Hey everyone! I guess since I set the blog up I will be the one to start this out. My husband and I got married in December of 2011. Marrying my husband I became an instant mom to a then 4 year old (she is 6 now). It has been a fun little adventure. My husband is currently studying at ISU and working on getting his master's degree. I am a student at BYUI working on getting my bachelors in History and Government Education. We are currently living in Pocatello, Idaho. Next spring/summer we will be heading to Washington D.C. for an internship then back to Pocatello to finish school. Life is going to be full of travels and all that fun stuff for the next two years.
